New intel shows that the missile which struck a Polish village near the border of Ukraine, killing two people, was likely from Ukrainian air defence, and not of Russian origin. Despite this, NATO has said that Putin is still to blame as he started the war and launched the attack that triggered Kyiv’s defences.
The Polish President stated that the information Warsaw has, shows that the missile was "an S-300 rocket made in the Soviet Union, an old rocket, and there is no evidence it was launched by the Russian side." He added that it was “highly probable that it was fired by Ukrainian anti-aircraft defence” and “unfortunately fell on Polish territory.” Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, insists, however, that he has "no doubt" that the missile was not Ukrainian.
“Let me be clear: this is not Ukraine’s fault,” NATO Secretary General, SeJens Stoltenberg, said after an emergency meeting in Brussels. “Russia bears the ultimate responsibility as it continues its illegal war against Ukraine.”
