With election day in the US taking place only 4 days ago, many are wondering what the results could mean for Phrog Nation. Domestic issues were expected to be at the top of many Americans' minds casting ballots, but is it possible for some of those issues to flow south into our borders?
Before the election, the Democrats controlled both the House of Representatives and Senate, but the Republicans were not very far behind, needing only five seats to win control of the House and one to win the Senate. As of right now, it's not looking too great for Democrats in the house.

Despite being an independent nation, Phrog Nation still maintains many ties to America. While many Phrog citizens may not know, due to the fact that many parts of Phrog Nation territory are also contested by America, US law still manages to affect our nation.
Because of this, many Phrog citizens also tend to be interested in American politics, and no one is more interested in American politics than Senator Jakob Venegas, who openly supports California District 41's candidate for the US House of Representatives, Democrat Will Rollins.
A majority of Phrog Citizens currently live where CA-41 used to be, where Republican Ken Calvert has represented since 1993. Calvert in the past has opposed same-sex marriage, expanding federal funding to support social safety net programs, gun-control legislation, government-run healthcare programs, abortion and a woman's right to choose, and much more.
"For many people, Phrog and US citizens, this US election doesn't just represent red vs blue or Democrat vs Republican. It represents the fight for equality and women's rights," Senator Venegas states, "I find it quite ironic then, that Ken Calvert's opposition is a gay man, Will Rollins, who I fully support."
With estimates predicting another win for Calvert and a total "red wave" across the Senate and House (whether that's accurate is yet to be seen), it's understandable how Phrog Nation's large LGBTQ population could be on edge awaiting the finalized results.
